The song was originally recorded by Carl Perkins in 1955 and has been covered by Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Written by Mark James, “Suspicious Minds” was a #1 smash and the final #1 hit of Elvis Presley’s career. The song was recorded when he was two years into his marriage with Priscilla, but things were already falling apart. The disappointment and pouring his heart out over his failings as a husband were very evident in this song.
